What’s Next?

We left Joey on the way to his next adventure. I thought it would be fun to fill in the gaps from Joey’s point of view, so I’ve created a journal where he details his journey to the next book.

Blue, The Next Tale of Joey Bananas

Available for Christmas 2025.

Joey has found a new place to call home for a while and finds himself learning a great deal about the countryside. His knowledge of landscape drawing and painting grows as well as his relationships with new animals he meets as part of his life.

Then he encounters Blue, a spoiled , lonely pedigree poodle who’s owners really don’t understand her and Joey has to take charge of her wellbeing much to Buttons delight. Between them they keep Joey very busy and give him far more than he bargained for…..

And then, there’s a vision from a painting, with the voice of an angel, who could have descended from the galaxy she is named for ,as she turns Joey’s world upside down .

A Hint of what’s to come...

How Can you get involved at Buttons HQ?

I’d love to hear from you, so write to me at shelly@micheleplews.co.uk and I’ll post your letter and notes on the Fan page!

If you have a copy of the book already, there are a number of activities at the back. Show me your drawings or thoughts if you were inspired by any of them.

When I began to write Joey’s Journal I was tempted to consider writing Buttons thoughts too but then I felt that could be a wonderful opportunity for my readers to do. Help me start a section called Buttons Blog. You can write any of Button’s thoughts or observations from any moment during the book and as Joey’s journals continue, you can add Buttons thoughts to those as well. Get a parent or teacher to help or if it’s easier, why not send me an audio file and we can share that too.

If you enjoy drawing, please have a read of Eve’s page and see what she has to say about illustrating Joey and Buttons. She has her own page here too so you can see some of her other work and that may inspire you in all sorts of ways. If it does, do let us know. Eve and I would love to hear from you and see your illustrations. Watch this space for details of our first art competition for all ages!
